Social media accounts, when it comes to businesses need to focus on creating a unique voice, while still maintaining a professional voice in their posts. There are several businesses that do this exceptionally well. Wendy’s is a good example. Denny’s is another. Then, on the other end of the spectrum are companies like United, that are maintaining a poor online presence, or companies like Hardee’s who try and fail to emulate successful practices, or even companies like Pepsi that make half-hearted apologies for their mistakes. The thing that is important to remember is that people value honesty and truth, and they respect people and companies that admit their mistakes when they occur. Rather than doubling down on a mistake, or making non-apologies, or even just remaining silent, the company should strive to make up for their mistakes and not continue to make them over and over again. Companies that are failing, in an online sense, tend to hire public relations firms or social media strategists. This is where you come in. if you know how to follow good social media strategies, and know how to implement positive social media policies, you can turn things around for a company in trouble. This is why everyone needs to know these rules and practices.
